ABSTRACT
The medical literature has concentrated mainly on the female breast and its disorders. The male breast has attracted less attention. However, the male breast can be the site of a wide variety of benign and malignant lesions. In this article, male patients who admitted to our radiology department US ( Ultrasonography) service for breast pathologies were discussed. The study was designed as a retrospective investigation. This study conducted in the US service department at Bilecik State Hospital. Study population was consisted of 169 male patients between 0 and 86 years of age who were examined clinically ,followed by standardized sonography using a 12 MHz linear transducer for breast pain and lesions between the years 2010-2015. Gynecomastia is the most common abnormality in the study group. 7 patients were reported that there was a Birads IV lesion and we did biopsy. Male breast disease either presents as mass, pain or nipple discharge. Gynecomastia and invasive ductal cancer are the most common lesions in the male breast, but there are other rarer benign and malignant lesions. Ultrasound is highly effective for exploring isolated lesions. All lesions eccentric to the nipple need biopsy unless they are characteristically benign, i.e.contain fat or typical lymph node.
