Abstract

INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE AND ETHNOMEDICINAL USE OF BIGNONIACEAE FAMILY PLANTS IN BARGARH DISTRICT, WESTERN ODISHA , INDIA

ABSTRACT

Plants of the Bignoniaceae family exhibit remarkable morphological diversity, ranging fro m trees, lianas and climbers to shrubs. The plants of this family are also known for their ornamental, ecological, and medicinal values. It is one among the most medicinally diverse families within angiosperms, offering a wealth of therapeutic compounds us ed both in conventional and traditional medicine. The present study listed nine plant species of Bignoniaceae family from Bargarh district in Odisha. The paper enumerated the reported species in alphabetic order with recent scientific names, vernacular nam es including local names, brief description of the plants, ethnomedicinal uses including parts used, dosages and mode of applications.
