Abstract

AYURVEDIC APPROACH IN MANAGEMENT OF RECURRENT EPISTAXIS (NASAGATA RAKTAPITTA): A CASE REPORT

Dr. Priyanka Mehra*, Prof. Dr. Reena Dixit

ABSTRACT

Epistaxis is defined as loss of blood from inside of the nasal cavity when small blood vessels in the nasal lining rupture. Epistaxis or nasal bleeding is correlates with Nasagata Raktapitta in Ayurveda. This report describes a 11-year-old girl with recurrent nasal bleeding. The child had intermittent epistaxis for 1.5 years, along with disturbed sleep. Management focused on Pitta pacification, hemostatic interventions, and nasal therapies. Ayurvedic formulations including Praval Bhasma, Bala Churna, Godanti Bhasma, and Raktastambhana medicines were administered along with Anu Taila Nasya. Significant symptomatic improvement was observed with cessation of nasal bleeding. This case highlights the potential of Ayurvedic management in recurrent pediatric epistaxis.
