INTEGRATIVE APPROACH IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ANEMIA: A COMPREHENSIVE LITERARY REVIEW
*Abhijeet Gaikwad, Deepak Jadhav
ABSTRACT
Anemia remains one of the most prevalent global health issues, affecting nearly one-third of the world’s population, with higher prevalence among women, children, and the elderly. Conventional medicine provides evidence-based interventions, including oral and parenteral iron supplementation, folic acid, vitamin B12 therapy, and blood transfusions for severe cases. However, recurrence, gastrointestinal side effects, poor compliance, and limited access in resource-constrained settings necessitate complementary strategies. Integrative approaches, incorporating Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, and nutritional therapy, address the root causes of anemia, optimize digestion and nutrient absorption, and promote long-term systemic well-being. This review synthesizes evidence from modern medicine and Ayurveda, highlighting a holistic and patient-centered strategy for anemia management.
