Acharya Manish, Dr. Gitika Chaudhary*, Dr. Richa, Dr. B. K. Shekhawat, Dr. Tanu Rani

ABSTRACT

Background: Secondary amenorrhea, commonly associated with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), significantly impacts women’s reproductive health. Conventional management often relies on hormonal therapy, which may cause adverse effects and does not provide long-term relief. Ayurveda correlates this condition with Nashtartava, primarily involving Vata and Kapha dosha imbalance. Case Presentation: A 19-year-old female presented with secondary amenorrhea, irregular menstrual cycles, acne, and weight gain. Ultrasound revealed polycystic ovarian morphology. She was managed with Shamanoushadhis including formulations containing Agnya dravya, along with dietary and lifestyle modifications. Outcome: After three months of therapy, the patient reported resumption of regular menstruation, relief in acne, and improvement in general well-being. Follow-up ultrasonography showed normalization of ovarian morphology. Conclusion: This case highlights the potential of Ayurvedic management in addressing PCOS-related secondary amenorrhea by correcting Agni, balancing doshas, and restoring Artava function. Further clinical studies are warranted to establish its efficacy.
