ABSTRACT
A helmet's primary use is to protect the head from injury. This is achieved by absorbing impact during accidents, reducing the risk of head, brain, and facial injuries, and also improving visibility and comfort while riding. Additionally, wearing a helmet is often a legal requirement, with penalties for non-compliance. Benefits: Protection from Head Injuries: Helmets are designed to absorb the force of impacts during falls or collisions, significantly reducing the severity of head injuries like concussions, skull fractures, and brain damage. Enhanced Visibility: Many helmets incorporate bright colours and reflective materials, increasing the wearer's visibility to other road users, articularly in low-light conditions. Protection from Road Debris: Helmets shield the face and head from flying debris like stones, insects, and branches, minimizing the risk of minor injuries. Improved Comfort: Helmets can protect from wind, dust, and harsh weather conditions, making long rides more comfortable. Legal Requirement: In many places, including India, wearing a helmet is a legal requirement for motorcycle riders, with penalties for non-compliance. Accident Prevention: Studies suggest that wearing a helmet can make riders more cautious and aware of their speed, potentially reducing the likelihood of accidents.
