LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE POSSESSED BY FEMALE TEACHERS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN ENUGU STATE WITH RESPECT TO MEANING OF CERVICAL CANCER

ABSTRACT
The study investigated the level of knowledge of cervical cancer and extent of practice of Pap smear screening among female primary school teachers in Enugu State. Seven research questions were formulated to guide the study while fourteen null hypotheses were tested at P 0.05 level of significance. Related literatures were reviewed under conceptual framework, theoretical framework and empirical studies. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The study was carried out in Enugu State, Nigeria. The population for the study consisted of eight thousand, three hundred and fforty (8,340) female teachers in the one thousand, two hundred and twenty-four (1,224) primary schools in Enugu State. The sample size for the study comprised of approximately 417 female primary school teachers in Enugu State. The results of the findings revealed among others that female teachers in primary schools in Enugu State possess a moderate level of knowledge (59.6%) with respect to the meaning of cervical cancer. The findings of this study revealed among others that female teachers in primary schools in Enugu State possess moderate level of knowledge with respect to the meaning of cervical cancer.
