ABSTRACT
The Panchmahabhuta Siddhant is the fundamental concept of Ayurveda which postulates that all matter, including the human body, is composed of five primordial elements: Prithvi (earth), Aap (water), Tejas (fire), Vayu (air), and Akash (space). These elements interact to form bodily structures, govern physiological functions, and influence disease pathology. The doctrine aligns with Saankhya philosophy, where the evolution of matter is attributed to interactions between these elements. Their predominance in doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and dhatus (tissues) determines health status. Understanding Panchmahabhuta enables targeted therapeutic interventions, where imbalances are corrected using substances with opposing elemental properties, ensuring holistic health maintenance.
