Dr. Sahadev Chickmagaravalli Krishnegowda, Dr. Bharath Makonahalli Jaganath, Dr. Sandeep Rudranaik, Dr. Raghu, Dr. Habeebulla H. S.*

ABSTRACT

Dentin surrounds the pulp in the crown as well as the root portion of the tooth. As dentinal tubules are present in the entire thickness of dentin, it may permeable to bacteria or chemical irritants which lead to pulpal irritation. Therefore, improved knowledge regarding dentin structure and properties is important in both restorative and endodontic procedures. Beyond the properties like resiliency, hardness, strength, fracture resistance, etc. remaining dentin thickness is very important for the success of conservative or endodontic treatment.
