A ROLE OF RAKTAMOKSHANA IN SHEETADA (CHRONIC GINGIVITIS) A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Sheetada is one among the Dantamoolagatarogas . It is caused by vitiation of kapha rakta dosha characterized by blee ding from gums, change in colour, consistency, contour of gingiva. Treatment modalities explained raktamokshana and kapha rakta doshahara chikitsa . Gingivitis is inflammation of gingiva, caused by many systemic and local factors. Treatment includes oral pr ophylaxis, antibiotics, oral hygiene practice. Objective: to see the effect of Raktamokshana and Kushtadi churna Pratisarana in sheetada . Methods: A 37 year old female patient visited our OPD of Shalakya tantra SJGAMC Koppal, with complaints of bleeding f rom gums while chewing, eating, brushing some time without cause, along with bad odour and mild pain since 1 year. Patient was diagnosed as Sheetada (chronic gingivitis). Patient was treated with prachchanna followed by Kushtadi churna pratisarana for 1 mon th. Results: Patient was relieved from signs and symptoms. Discussion; Raktamokshana is one of the shodhana therapy which removes vitiated blood. Kushtadhi churna Pratisarana is mitigates kaphadosha and also act as antibiotic. Conclusion: Raktmokshana play important role in early subsiding of gingivitis.
