Abstract

AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF INSECT BITE- A REVIEW ARTICLE

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda literatures like Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Astanga Hridya and various other Samhita has described different types of Visha like Sthavara Visha, Jangama Visha and Kritrima Visha. A descriptive detail of Jangama Visha is mentioned in Sushruta Samhita Kalpasthana. Jangama Visha includes all kinds of animate poisoning such as snake bite, spider bite, scorpion sting and various types of insect bites. In these Samhita sign and symptoms and various types of treatment module of their poisoning due to the bites of snakes, insects, spiders, rodents etc. has described very thoroughly. The main aim of this review article is to compile the various types of treatment module of various types of insect bites mentioned in different ayurveda literatures.
