Abstract

CONCEPT OF GHARBHINI PANDU W. S. R. TO ANEMIA IN PREGNANCY

ABSTRACT

Anemia in pregnancy is a global public health issue facing in developing country. According to by ‘WHO’, anemia was consider when the Hemoglobin (Hb) concentration is 11 gm/dl or less. Anemia in pregnancy is responsible for 25 % maternal mortality and low birth weight which causes infant mortality. Those most of women from ruler areas and low socio-economic groups and could not get proper nutritious food during pregnancy which causes deficiency on iron in the pregnancy. They have lack of understanding about disease & do not take proper care and treatment. That's why anemia became very serious & emerging problem in India. In Ayurveda,Garbhini Pandu is not mentioned as a separate Vyadhi but, According to Harita samhita, there are eight Garbhopadrava i.e. 1.Shwasa, 2.Hrillasa, 3.Chardi, 4.Shotha, 5.Jwara, 6.Aruchi., 7.Atisara, 8.Vivarnata. Vivarnata is the main symptom of Garbhini Pandu. Thus anemia in pregnancy can be coreleated with Garbhini Pandu.
