WHEN PORTAL HYPERTENSION REVEALS THE HYDATID CYST OF THE LIVER! (ABOUT 5 CASES AND LITERATURE REVIEW)

ABSTRACT

Liver hydatid cyst (LHC) is a benign parasitic disease of the liver. This disease is endemic in Morocco and throughout the Maghreb where it is a public health problem. This affection is often latent, of fortuitous discovery, it can, however, be enameled of several complications sometimes revealing, putting at stake the prognosis vital. Portal hypertension remains one of the exceptional complications. We report a series of 5 patients admitted for management of gastrointestinal bleeding or ascites whose etiological diagnosis was a compressive LHC.
