Abstract

THE STUDY OF INCIDENCE OF VARIOUS PATTERNS OF INJURIES ASSOCIATED WITH MOTORBIKE ACCIDENTS

ABSTRACT

Objective: Our study's primary objective was to discover the incidence of associated patterns of motorcycle injury. Duration of Study: This analysis was carried out over nine months between May 2019 and January 2020. Place of Study: This research was carried out in the accidents and emergency department of Nishtar Hospital Multan. Materials and Methods: Patients between the ages of 6 and 70, irrespective of gender, were included in this study, and patients had all kinds of injuries. All patients in the emergency department who reported road traffic accidents were selected, and patients were selected based on inclusion criteria—classified injuries for different regions. To identify the associated injuries, each patient was thoroughly examined, and related investigations were carried out. A pre-designed pro forma was used to collect patient information. All patients have received the ethical committee's informed consent and approval. Results: There were a total of 2000 patients studied in 9 months. With an average age of 31.4 years, the patients were between the ages of 6 and 70. Of these, 1588 were male (79.4 per cent), while 412 were female (20.6 per cent). 1136 (58.8 per cent) patients had injuries to their lower limbs, while 544 (27.2 per cent) had injuries to their upper limbs. The following are additional outcomes. 1. The 1874 Abrasions (93.7 per cent) 2. Bruises from 1040 (52 per cent) 3. 1362 lacerations, lacerations (68.1 per cent) 4. Fractures in lower extremities 450 (22.5 per cent) 5 Upper limb fractures 2722 Upper limb fractures (13.6 per cent) There were 28 spinal fractures (1.4 per cent), 30 skull and maxillofacial areas (1.5 per cent), 42 (2.1 per cent), and 822 pelvic areas (82 per cent) (4.1 per cent). Conclusion: There is a much greater incidence of motorcycle injuries in young men who are fanatics. Among all accidents, abrasion and lower limb fractures were the most common.
